Brewers Shut down by Powerful Rockies Pitching
Brewers bats couldn't get going in 12-1 lossUpdated Monday May 20, 2013 by David Solivan.
Strong pitching fromt the BYBA Rockies left our Brewers bats silent on Saturday as the Rockies came away with a 12-1 win. Our Brewers simply couldn't connect with the combinations of 70 MPH fastballs, mixed with change ups and a dropping curve ball, all delivered with the same, deceptive motion by the Rockies ace.
Still, there were some bright spots in the game. Tyler Knauer, Tyler Manmiller and Anthony Dearholt put together a perfect double play. Tyler Gilfert racked up 10 strikouts pitching for 5 innings and held the Rockies scoreless for 4 of those innings. Jacob Rogers tracked and caught a blazing line drive to center to stop what surely would have been more runs for the Rockies. And once he got on first, TK, true to form, stole his way to third to set up our score.
There were other bright spots as well, and if I didn't mention yours, don't worry. This is a good team, and I'm confident there will be many more highlights to call out as the season unfolds. For now, we face the Marlins on Tuesday evening, and coaches Rogers, Boyle, and I are making adjustments to our strategy to put you all in the best position for a win. I'll see you all then.
GO FLEETWOOD BREWERS!!!
