The Most Interesting Team in the World Looks Solid During Tuesday Win

Solid Defense, a High On-Base Percentage and Derpy Pitching Lead Brewers to Victory in the First of Three Games This Week

The FABA Brewers continued to play solid baseball Tuesday as they beat the BYBA Red Sox by a score of 11-4 in 6 innings. Our coaches knew that the Red Sox would be arriving at Willow Creek Field with a winning record, and they were expecting a challenge, but our Brew-Crew continued to play solid, team baseball for the win. Here are just a few of the highlights.
  • Beaudreaux, Pedroia, and Letterman all had perfect on-base percentages each getting to first base 3 out of 3 times.
  • TK, Ant, and Janklin DerpTrollstein all had batting averages of over .500 for the game, and T.J.'s was a whopping .600!
  • Dustin Pedroia led teh RBI race this game with 2
  • The non-Gilfert Tylers on the team led in stolen bases with two a piece.
  • The giraffe speed of Melendez Ortiz turned what would have been a single for anyone else into a double
  • Connor Boyle gave us his best Charlie Hustle impersonation as his perfect, head-first slide into home brought in another run
  • Alec Boyle, still recovering from a broken wrist, was a presence in the outfield streaking across the grass to get balls back to the infield with Mantis-like speed
Another key part of the Brewers win was strong pitching from starter Jack Solivan, and derpy accuracy at closer from Jake Rogers. "Ermagerd!" coach Solivan was heard to say.
Coach Boyle, as usual, was not impressed. Apparently, he asked coach Solivan to warm up Ant to pitch in the 7th inning and gave instructions for Ant to pitch "lights out". This didn't happen. I tried to explain to coach Boyle that we were not able to play a 7th inning due to time limitations, but he was in no mood for excuses. "When I tell those guys to do something, I expect it to get done," he exclaimed. We can only hope that Ant will follow directions better this Thursday....
